11/1 Events Committee Meeting--RESCHEDULED

VG Social Committee--Upcoming Meeting
Current members and anyone else that is interested in joining the Victor Gardens social committee are welcome to attend our upcoming meeting on Tuesday, November 1st at 7P at Dunn Brothers (next to Festival Foods). We'll be discussing some adult only events that our 2 newest members would like to plan as well as a few other remaining events for November-March 2012.

Reminder: Friday Night is Movie Night!
Movie Night in Val Jean ParkThe weather's looking promising for Friday's Movie Night in Val Jean Park. Join us for another cinema under the stars event! Share conversation, snacks and a cup of lemonade with your neighbors. The kids can burn off energy in the playground and soccer fields for their own pre-show entertainment. Bring your lawn chairs & blankets - the feature begins at sunset!
Rio - About the Movie
Blu is a domesticated Macaw who never learned to fly and lives in Moose Lake, MN. Blu thinks he's the last of his kind, but learns about another Macaw in Rio de Janeiro. The adventure begins as he searches for Jewel, his female counterpart. Will he have the courage to fly and thwart the kidnappers who are hot on their trail? Rated G.

National Night Out--Tuesday, August 2nd!
Save the Date... Victor Gardens Annual National Night Out celebration on Tuesday, August 2nd in Arbre Park.
Kids jump house, visits from the Hugo Fire Department & Washington County Sheriff, games, food and more! BYOB and your lawn chairs. We will provide a light dinner, dessert and non-alcoholic beverages for residents. Festivities start at 6P.
Check victorgardensnews.org the day of the event in case of rain.
Please email me (eventsbyjulie@gmail.com) if you can spare 20-30 minutes for set up, clean up, serving food or other volunteer opportunities. Any/all help would be greatly appreciated!

Events Committee Meeting TONIGHT (7/14) change in location
We will not be able to meet up by the pool this evening (due to rain) for the events committee members coming to discuss/plan National Night Out. Originally I had thought about having the rain back up be my home but instead let's all meet at Dunn Brothers (the one in our neighborhood adjacent to Festival Foods).

Movie Night Postponed Until Tomorrow Night (Saturday)
Due to uncertainty with the weather, the Events Committee postponed Movie Night until tomorrow night, Saturday June 11.
Despicable Me will be shown in Val Jean Park at 7:30. Popcorn, snacks and lemonade will be provided. Bring your lawn chairs, blankets and bug spray. Enjoy the fun with your neighbors and friends!

June Movie Night in the Park...SAVE THE DATE
More details will be coming shortly but please save the date for Friday, June 10th for our annual School's Out Movie Night in the Park. Festivities (snacks, fun) will begin around 7:30 and movie will begin at dusk. Val Jean Park! Make sure to bring your lawnchairs or blankets. We will be showing a family friendly movie.
An official invite will be posted and emailed shortly with all of the details.
This has been an extremely well attended and fun event for our neighborhood. Hope to see you there!

Thanks Carol and the Events Committee!
Thanks to everyone who made Sunday's Easter Egg Hunt a big success! Carol donated nearly 2000 eggs and the Events Committee filled and "hid" them in Arbre Park. The kids really enjoyed collecting the eggs and the special prizes.
The turnout was fantastic, especially for an event that had to be rescheduled due to weather. Thanks again to everyone who continues to make this neighborhood a such great place!

Victor Gardens Garage Sales
I've received a few inquiries lately regarding the garage sale weekend that we've had these past few years in Victor Gardens. In the past, the Events group has funded the costs for this (advertising/signage). Unfortunately, we will NOT be hosting the annual garage sales this year. The number of households participating has gone down over the years and it just didn't seem to be a smart choice to use events money to fund this event any more (we will revisit this again next year if it sounds like more residents are interested).
Of course residents are always welcome to host their own sales or partner with neighbors to host a multi-household sale. Since we have not allocated any funds to pay for the signage or advertising for these sales, residents would need to do so at their own expense.
The events group does have some GREAT things planned for everyone... Stay tuned for a calendar of events for the year. Movie Nights, National Night Out, Adults only events, and more!

Volunteers Needed for Easter Event!
The Victor Gardens events committee will be hosting a neighborhood-wide Easter Egg Hunt this year on Saturday, April 16th starting at 3PM in Arbre Park. An invitation will be posted/emailed out shortly!
The Easter Bunny is looking for assistants to join us at the VG Activity Center on Tuesday, April 12th starting at 6:30P to help fill the eggs that were so generously donated to the neighborhood by Carol, one of our residents.
Please consider taking even 30 minutes of your evening to help us out on the 12th. This should be a great event for everyone and we're very low on volunteers to help get the eggs ready for the big hunt!

Volunteers Needed for Social Committee!
We are looking for volunteers to serve on the Victor Gardens Social Committee this year. Help plan a Movie Night, our first annual Easter egg hunt, National Night Out or a fun adults only event. We'd love to see some new faces (and old ones too!) this year.
Please plan to meet at Dunn Brothers (next to Festival Foods) on Thursday, March 10th at 7P. We will be talking about the Easter Egg Hunt first and then can discuss the remainder of the year.
Please consider volunteering this year. It's a minimal time commitment with a big payoff. These community wide events are a great way to keep our neighborhood a great place to live!

Victor Gardens Adult Bowling Night set for March 25, 8pm
$5 for two games including shoes.
This is an adults only event. First 30 people to RSVP will have their bowling & shoes paid for. Teams will be created upon arrival at the event. Door prize drawing for everyone that RSVP's by March 20th!
