Goetz to Maintain Association Landscaping

Victor Gardens Community Association (the Master Association) has hired Goetz Landscape of Centerville to maintain the Master Association's lawns and landscaping for the upcoming season.  The Master Board held a walk through meeting with Goetz  (a highly regarded locally-owned company) to estimate costs for high-priority areas that need extra attention this year. These include removal of the non-working fountain at Frenchman Road, new annual and perennial plantings at the Main Entrances North and South of Frenchman Road, refreshing mulch neighborhood wide, replacement of some of the dead trees, pruning, etc.  The Association is in much better financial shape this year,  but the Board will still need to prioritize the projects that Goetz will be hired for.  Some less-prominent projects may be differed.

The Board is also considering locations to erect a permanent "Victor Gardens" monument sign near the Main Entrance or the northern corner of Victor Square.

As was the case last year, The City of Hugo is responsible for maintenance of the City-owned parks such as Victor Square, Arbre Park, and ValJean Park.

It would be nice to see the City of Hugo take a little better care of the parks in our neighborhood. Arbre Park is in rough shape over past years. The Basketball court surface is eroding quickly, the Volleyball court is basically a sandbox full of weeds, the bb hoops are leaning towers and the weeds most likely will be out of control. Who should we contact about this?

As "anonymous" said on May 13, I, too, am concerned that the City of Hugo is neglecting the parks. Victor Square has deteriorated badly, is full of dandelions and several dead trees. One of the fountins (aereoator sprays) does not work, the pond is filthy and the rocks around it are sliding down into it. Weeds are growing up through many of the paved paths. Who do we contact at the city to express our concern and disappointment?

The City of Hugo now has the responsibility for Victor Square, Arbre, and Val Jean Parks. There are a few areas where the Master Association supplements the City's work, (a few planting beds, fountain, etc.) but they're the ones that should be contacted about problems with the Park lawns. A phone call or email to the Public Works department might be a good starting point.

Thanks Mark. I have sent Scott an email with an itemized list of things that need attention. I haven't heard back yet.

Would you be able to share with us the list of items you see that needs attention? Weeds are the most obvious, but there may be some areas you've noticed that the Master Association has decided to address too (like replacing a dead tree, etc...)

Items that need to be addressed:

1. The amount of weeds and dandelions in Arbre Park is out of control (dandelions in some spots are 2 feet high)
2. The basketball court surface is eroding and needs resurfacing
3. The basketball hoops are leaning 10-15 degrees due to ground settling
4. The Volleyball court is over ridden with weeds (pickle bushes) and not many people are willing to use it
5. Dead trees should be removed and replaced
6. Numerous broken sprinkler heads are shooting water directly into the air when watering occurs.
